This is a massive hindu pilgrimage festival ,celebrated every 12 year in nasik (maharashtra) and is a time when millions of people come from all over the world to celebrate their faith. the festival includes ritual bathing in the Godavari River ,Trimbakeshwar shiva temple and Ram kund .
The festival is also known as the Nasik Trimbakeshwar Simhasta or Nasik Trimbak kumbh mela .it is one of the four fairs traditionaly recognized as kumbh mela .
According to the hindu mythology .it is the time when gods and demons fighting over a pitcher of nectar of immortality during the battle , afew drops of the nectar spilled on four places on earth - Nasik , Prayagraj (Allahabad ),Haridwar , Ujjain .
Millions of Devotees , Sadhus and pilgrims come together to take a holy dip in the sacred Godavari River . It is said that during this blessed event , one can wash away all worries .
The Kumbh Mela in Trimbakeshwar Nasik , is special because it combines two sacred sites , Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple and Ramkund .
